Invitation
from
IT Forum Chair

The WMU IT Forum was created as a venue to exchange ideas about how technology is changing the way we live and work. Its target audience includes Western Michigan University students and staff, businesses, and non-profit organizations in our West Michigan region. In aligning the forum with the inquiry and discovery missions of Western Michigan University, our objectives include
  • educating our constituencies, especially local businesses, about technologies that will demand their attention in the near future;
  • creating a venue in which our students can showcase their talents, and
  • providing representatives of any part of the university a stage to present ways in which technology is changing how they teach, conduct research, or perform administrative or logistical functions.

The forum takes place at the WMU Fetzer Center on March 28, 2008. We expect our 2008 theme of Collaboration and Connection to continue for at least the next few years, choosing specific technologies from the Gartner list of top 10 technologies for the current year. Our speakers this year will address Service Oriented Architecture, Mashups, and Software as a Service and they will offer something valuable for all our constituencies. Academics can learn about the way these technologies evolved and current research. Business people can learn about business value, resource requirements, and implementation challenges.

Please come to learn with us.
